Israel Proposes Ban On Companies Dealing Primarily In Cryprocurrencies

According to the Israel Securities Authority on Thursday, Israel may ban companies whose main business revolves around bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The regulator proposed an amendment to the rules that would prohibit it from listing shares issued by companies that primarily invest in, own, or mine cryptocurrencies. The proposal for the amendment came following a quick rise in shares of Blockchain Mining, a company that claimed it would shift its focus from mining for gold and iron to mining crypto currencies. The ISA said, "This phenomenon, if it continues, may in the future have serious consequences on the ... fairness of trading in the bourse in general and on investor confidence in the bourse."
